WOMEN OF THE WORLD - New England Champion
Women of the World was formed as a path for female musicians from across the globe to collaborate through music, as well as to celebrate the diverse ideologies and cultural tenets of women all over the world. Accordingly, the Women of the World repertoire is vast and varied. Constantly searching for new genres to explore, the group has performed in 30 languages (and counting) including Builgarian, Cuban, Ladino Portuguese, Turkish, Swahili, Haitian, Indian, Italian, and Japanese. In many ways, this ensemble is a microcosm of the world; each musicians in the group has a strong artistic identity shaped by her culture of origin, and finds excitement in exploring those of others. This cross-pollination of genres, rhythms, and global sounds is borderless and spirited, carrying an undeniable message of unit, and creating unique musical results. Channeling the power of collective action, Women of the World has brough together over 200 when from all over the globe, finding inspiration in their music and artistic bond. The four vocal artists of Women of the World are Ayumi Ueda from Japan, Annette Philip from India, Georgia Renosto from Italy, and Deborah Pierre from Haiti/United States.
